Reading for Sunday, Movember 6th: 1 Samuel 8, 16; 2 Samuel 7, 11; Psalm 105

Hey there!
This week we are being introduced to Samuel, one of the God's prophets to the people of Israel. Although prophets have most often been identified as people who received words from God regarding the future, their most important function was to act as God's 'mouthpiece' to the people. They would constantly call the people back to faithfulness and intimacy with God after they walk away from him or turn their backs on him.

The Psalm listed is basically a summary of what we've read up to this point. If you've missed any of the last few week's, this week's is a great place to jump in and still be in the middle of where we're going!

If you need a Bible or are interested in something a little more familiar to read, a good tool to use for different translations of the Bible is http://www.biblegateway.com/.  If you'd like to read it more like a free flowing story, checking out the New Living Translation or The Message are a good place to go.

Hope you're having a great week, praying for you,
Brian

This week's reading in Exodus for Sunday, October 16th

Hi guys!
I hope you had a GREAT Thanksgiving weekend are enjoying several remixes of Turkey in the process :) This week's reading is from Exodus 1-3 and Exodus 12. All in all, the weekly reading should only take you about 25 minutes. This week's reading introduces us to an overview of one of the Bible's most important figures in Moses. Feel free to sing songs from the Prince of Egypt soundtrack through the week to celebrate this new adventure, lol.

Don't forget that Lindsay checks in at 4:00pm on Sunday afternoons to see who will claim points for their squad.
See you on Sunday night @Chaos! :)

This week's reading (October 2nd)

This week's reading is in Genesis 12-17. I will of course reward points for whoever wants to complete last week's reading and offer some brief comments on it as well. Although we are starting on Week 2 I will keep it as it was originally posted to not throw off the schedule. With the blog posting, all you need to do is three things:

1.) Confirm that you read it completely and were able to think about what you read. Scanning is not reading:)
2.) Offer some insight of what you read:  "This is something I liked, this is something I haven't thought about, this is something I'm not sure about, this is something that seemed cool/strange, etc."
3.) What did these passages tell you about God?

Happy reading my Chaotic Cronies!

Netiquette: Rules for Survival on the Internet

Hello all,
Well, tonight is our big kick off and I am very excited for our upcoming year together! I just wanted to post a few final netiquette "rules" so that everyone can get the most out of our blog and our group this year.

Purpose of the blog:
-to build our friendships with each other while learning more about Christ and our daily walk with Him
-to encourage each other daily
-to provide an open space for questions and comments as we walk through life together
-a space for you to blog about the things that God is teaching you in your daily walk with him so that we can all learn and grow together
-a space for you to be helpful to each other
-to give you a space to post uplifting, fun and crazy pictures/videos/comments of your life events so we can share in them with you
-to keep everyone informed of the weekly happenings in Chaos
-to have fun!
-and that the following verse will be true of your life story:

Ephesians 3:17-19
Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
(NLT)

NOT the purpose of the blog:
-to post comments/videos/pictures etc. that are not uplifting or encouraging to others
-to gossip or slander others
-to use foul or obscene language
-to share with others or gossip about what has been posted on the blog.

Proverbs 20:19A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.

Matthew 12:36
But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

Acts 13:15
Brothers, if you have a message of encouragement for the people, please speak.

1 Thessalonians 5:10-12
He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

I can't wait to read about all of the things that God is teaching you and doing in your lives! Here's to a fantastic year together!
